music at cookie from kathryn sawers

The singer/songwriter Kathryn Sawers will be moving her piano into Cookie on Sunday night to perform some of her rather spectacular music.

Kathryn is an amazing musician and Sunday night should be something special. It’s quite difficult to describe Kathryn’s music, the Herald called it spectaular and haunting, but that doesn’t quite cover it. The only way to get a taste of it is to listen to the songs on her myspace page at www.myspace.com/kathrynsawers or to watch the video underneath. It’s a little bit Kate Bush, a little bit Michael Nyman but still very much her own thing.

This is Kathryn’s first gig in Glasgow; she’s spent the last ten years in Aberdeen and only performed in Glasgow when her music was being used for the dance piece The Ballad, which toured Scotland to rave reviews. Her infrequent gigs in Aberdeen have seen her grow a large following and we’re quite sure the same thing will happen in down here.

Kathryn’s being supported by Babygod performing an acoustic set.

Sunday 19th September, 7.30pm.

Tickets are £3.

Doune the rabbit hole

We will be cooking for the mad hatter and company at Doune this year. This is the first time this great location has been used for a music festival. It might be more familiar to you in the form of Camelot in Monty Python’s the Holy Grail.

Doune the rabbit hole is a two day tea party situated in the beautiful countryside surrounding Doune Castle, Stirlingshire. With a great line up of bands and things do for all the family.

Why don’t you check it out.
